Working
with Fonts
By using this tutorial you agree to my
terms
Feel free to use your own colors for this.
For this tutorial you will need
Jasc PSP
9 . This was written using 9 but it can be done in 8 or 7 with a
few adjustments.

You
can use any state font you like.
I am from Alaska. I got the
Alaskan Ice font from Character
at http://www.annexcafe.com/newsgroups/
Thank you
Character for making it.
You can get
the Alaskan Ice font here.
Open
a transparent canvas 500X500.
Set your font as in screen shot
below.

Set
background and foreground color
to black. Click on the font
tool and type out your name
or state, what ever you like.
Convert to raster layer. Zoom
in and check all lines to make
sure they are all connected.
Use your paint brush set at size
1 and paint in to make the line
solid. We don't want any gaps
in the lines. See screen shots
below.

Clean
out some of the holes at the
bottom so the back ground will
show.

After
you have checked all the lines
and cleaned out the holes,
lock the layer pallet. Flood
fill with white if you are going
to use Super Blade Pro on it.
If you want it to be just a
color flood fill with the color
of your choice. You can
use eye candy 4000 Bevel Boss.
I will give examples for both.
For
super blade pro: Click on selection
tool then select all. Apply
SBP preset of your choice.
For
Bevel Boss: Apply setting below.

Add
new raster layer. Use you paint
brush I just used the +round
05 settings. Paint all the snow
topped areas. Don't worry about
it having jaggy edges we will
smudge it out some.

Lock
layer pallet apply cutout, horizontal
and vertical 0, opacity 100,
blur 9, color #cec8fc. Unlock
layer pallet. Smudge using settings
below.

Smudge
up just a bit on the top, and
down on the bottom as in screen
shot.

Click
back on your outline layer.
Use
the magic wand and hold down
the shift key. Click inside
all the areas inside the state.
Go to selections/modify/expand
selection by 2. Add new raster
layer. Use the sm-forgetmenot
tile or tile of your choice. Open
tile minus it on psp desktop.
Open pattern and select tile
angel 0, scale 25.
Use your paint brush and paint
the areas. Deselect and paint
in some of the small areas Make sure
you are on the new layer you
added. Right click and save
to your puter the tile below.

Lock
the layer in the layer pallet.
Apply cutout horizontal and
vertical 0, opacity 100, blur
11, color #0a0a1a.
Click
back on your outline layer.
I applied a drop shadow, horizontal
and vertical 0, opacity 100,
blur 10, color #1d155d. Make
sure you have the shadow on
new layer checked. I erased
every where but around the A
area as in screen shot. Ctrl
+ D to duplicate image. Save
so you can change the colors
or background. Merge visible.

That's
all there is to it.

Below
is a few other ways I did some
fonts.
I
used Super Blade Pro on these.
I love the SBP at Meadows
Studio. The
glass and coconutice are one
of my favorites.

The
two below I used Eye Candy
Bevel Boss and Shadow lab.

Below
I didn't use any bevel or SBP
just drop shadows. The font
is Alfonso Whitehead, foreground
set to color and size 1, background
set to nil. Select inside as
you did above. Flood fill with
tile or gradient.
