Easter Basket

This was written in PSP 7 but is adaptable for 6.

My tutorial was written for folks that have a working

knowledge of PSP. You can download the trial version of

PSP 7 here.

We are going to make a Easter Basket out of a chain link.

If you would like to make a Pastel of color links go here

to Nancy's (ChooChoo's) Plastic Eggs tutorial. It only

takes a second to make the link  pretty pastel colors.

Thank you Nancy for writing this and showing me how

it is done. I just love it.

First we are going to make the link.

Open image 100X100. Use the preset shape set to ellipse,

antialias checked, create as vector checked, line width 5,

background set to nil. Use your right click button on mouse.

Start at 50X50 and draw out to 50X30. Or if you

are more used to using the left button increase image to 110X110

Or what ever size you prefer. I used color #F2BDF5

Click on convert to raster. Apply inner bevel. Save as first link.

Width 8

Smoothness 35

Depth 7

Ambience 2

Shininess 37

Angle 315

Intensity 30

Elevation 53

Color white

Open new image 400X400. Us preset shape as before

starting at 200X200.  Draw out to 323X89 or close to it.

Add new layer. Take the first link you made and copy/paste

as new layer. Rotate it 45 degrees to right. Move it to far right

side as shown in image below. Copy/paste as new layer another

link and keep doing it till you get all the way across. We don't

want to use the paste as new selection because we will be

erasing parts later on. On the last link at the far left we will

rotate that one 45 degrees to left.

Now zoom in to see links up close. Click on first link. Use

eraser set at 2 or 3 and erase a few parts of link so it

will look like they are linked. Just one part will do, and do

every other link. When done turn off black ring, and merge

all link layers.  Duplicate layer, then flip image. Turn on

black ring layer and line them up till they fit the way you like.

Delete black layer. We don't need it any more.

Merge visible both link layers.

Now we will make a tube out of this chain link. Use crop tool

crop as shown below. Go to file/export, click on Picture Tube.

Use settings below.

Now the hard part is done. LOL

Time for a coffee break.

The fun part is coming up next.

Open new image 600X650.

click on chain tube, reset the  tool options like below

Set your cursor at 300,550. click once then move

cursor up to 300, 350 hold down shift key and click mouse

once. Now you have made your basket.

Click deformation tool, hold down Ctrl and move bottom

corner inward to the size you want. Let go of Ctrl and grab

top center and move down to size you want. Click ok for 6

double click for 7.

Click here for a more advanced way of shaping, and

sizing your basket.

Zoom in to where you can see it big. Click on Lasso tool

antilias check feather 0. Use either freehand or point to point

which ever you like best to use. Draw around it as below.

Click copy, then cut. Then paste as new layer. Move new layer

to line up again as whole basket. Now you can fill the basket

with things when time comes later.
