Candy Corn

For this tutorial you will need Jasc PSP 9 . This was written using 9 but it can be done in 8 or 7 with a few adjustments.

Below is the smudge settings I used.

Air brush settings.

This is a simple vector candy corn.

Open canvas 300X300. Choose your base color. I used # F13E07 for background and foreground set to nil. Click on the preset shape tool . Select the Triangle, anti-alias and create as vector checked. Start towards the top of canvas on right side. Click and drag over to the right side and down towards bottom.  Click on the pen tool . Double click on one of the nodes to select all. Right click on the  right bottom node, choose node type/symmetric. Click select none. Turn nodes on each one to make the points rounded like candy corn.  Save then duplicate and close one. Convert to raster layer.  Click on the lock   in the layer pallet to lock the transparency. We are going to do this part on the same layer.

Use the paint brush with these settings. Notice that the Thickness and rotation are different. If you are using  psp 7 you wont have the option of changing them. So you will have to just use a large circle shape. Paint your corn as in screen shot with color # F3E507.

Do the same for white at the top.  

Click on selection tool then Ctrl+A F to select  image. Save to alpha channel.

Switch to airbrush using settings at beginning of tutorial. For the bottom shading use # B83A18,  for the middle shading use # F1CA05, for the top use # E5E1E1.  Spray as in screen shot and then smudge to blend colors. Add new layer change airbrush size to 10 and spray down the middle and sides with white as in screen shot. Smudge. Click on first layer and add new layer lightly spray #C0C0C0 under the white lines to give a little depth.
