terms
Feel free to use your own colors for this.
For this tutorial you will need
Jasc PSP
9 . This was written using 9 but it can be done in 8 or 7 with a
few adjustments.
Below
is the smudge settings I
used.

Air
brush settings.

For
those that know how to make
there own vector shapes
please feel free to make
your own. I have
a hard time explaining how
I draw things. I love
to draw and paint but hate
trying to explain how I
draw them. LOL So
for those that don't like
to make the vectors
you can get my alpha-channel
canvas here.
"
I like to do my shading
all on one layer. In the layer palette click the lock to lock the transparency.
Open
alpha channel canvas and
load bud 1 alpha channel
flood fill with color 1.
Use color 2 and 3 for shading.
Air brush as in screen shot
for bud. Darker color
on left and light one on
right, mix them both at
the top. It doesn't have
to be perfect we will add
some darker shading after
we get the stem part on.
Do the same for bud
2

Load
stem 1 flood fill with first
color in second row. Use
2 and 3rd colors for shading.
Apply cut out horizontal
and vertical 0, opacity
100, blur 4, use 2nd color
for shadow color. Air brush
in spots along the stem.
Doesn't need to put a lot
just a little here and there.
Smudge to blend. Use 3rd
color for end of stem by
bud as in screen shot. Smudge
Click on bud1 and use 4th
color and draw some lines
as in second screen shot.
Do the same
for stem 2.

Load
stem 3 flood fill with first
color. Use second color
for shading. Apply same
cutout as before. Air brush
on left side of stem darker
than one the right side.
Smudge to blend. Do the
same for the rest of the
stem layers.
Load
leaf 1 and flood fill with
same color as stems. Use
first color on leaf colors
as in first screen shot
below. Air brush color 2
as in second screen shot.
Smudge to blend these 2
colors. Air brush color
3 as in 3rd screen shot
then smudge to blend.

Use
color 4 as in screen shot
below smudge to blend. Use 6th
color to go around
the edges on the bottom
lighter colors. Use 4th
color to go around the top
darker edges.

Load
leaf 2 alpha channel, flood
fill with same color as
leaf 1. We are basically
going to do the same as
we did for leaf 1. The first
screen shot I used the 1st
and 2nd color on chart.
Smudge to blend. Use colors
3 and 5 for the next step,
smudge to blend. Use colors
4 and 6 for the 3rd screen
shot. Use color 6 around
the bottom edges in the
light areas and color 4
for the top dark areas.

Load
leaf 3 alpha channel, flood
fill with color as other
leaves. Use color 1 and
3 for shading as in screen
shot. Smudge to blend. Use
colors 4 and 6 for shading
on second screen shot. Use
color 3 for high light on
top edge.

Load
leaf 4 alpha channel, Use
colors 1 and 3 for shading
as in screen shot below.
Use 4th and 7th colors as
in screen shot. Use color
6 around edges.

Load
leaf 5 alpha channel. Use
colors 1 and 2 for shading
as in screen shot. Use
3rd and 7th as in second
screen shot. Use 4th color
as in 3rd screen shot.

Load leaf 8 alpha channel.
Use colors 2 and 3 as in
screen shot. Smudge to blend.
Use color 8 as in
second screen shot. smudge
to blend. Use color 6 and
go around edges of light
areas, color 8 for darker
edges.

Whew
all the leaves are done.
Load
petal 1 alpha channel. Flood
file with first color on
flower color chart. Set
foreground to 2nd color
and back ground to 3rd color.
Use air brush and paint
as screen shot. Smudge
to blend. Change colors
to the 4th and 5th on the
chart. Paint as in second
screen shot. Smudge to blend.
Use color #afa08e on the
edges

This
is how my petal came out.

Do
the same for the rest of
the petals.
Load
petal 2 alpha channel. The
first screen shot I used
the 2nd and 3rd colors.
The second screen shot I
used the 4th and 5th colors.
smudge to blend. Use
color #afa08e on the edges

Load
petal 3 alpha channel. The
first screen shot I used
the 2nd and 3rd colors.
The second screen shot I
used the 4th and 5th colors.
smudge to blend. Use
color #afa08e on the edges

Load
petal 4 alpha channel.
The first screen shot I
used the 2nd and 3rd colors.
The second screen shot I
used the 4th and 5th colors.
smudge to blend. Use
color #afa08e on the edges

Ok
now all the petals are done.
That wasn't too bad was
it?
Click
on the first petal layer
add new layer. Use the 5th
color and spray a shadow
as in screen shot. Smudge
to smooth color. Gaussian
blur 2 to 4 you can also
lower the opacity from 50
to 75. Play with the settings
till you get it the way
you want. Do the same for
petal 2 and 3.

Now
we need to make a couple
centers. I for got to make
the alpha channels so you
are going to have make the
centers. No grumbling it
isnt hard to do.
Add
new vector layer. Choose
ellipse preset shape. Set
foreground color to nil
and background color to
#54352F. Make a center
as in screen shot below.
Convert to raster
layer when you get it like
you want it.
Add
new vector layer and move
it below the center you
just made. Click on the
pen tool
size 1.50, click on
the point to point
and uncheck the connect
segments, create on vector
and show nodes checked.
Set foreground color to
#7b4c2d and background set
to nil. Click and hold down
mouse and move straight
up just a little. Let go
of mouse and move up and
over to right click and
pull to the right a little
as in screen shots. Go all
the way around center as
in screen shot 3. You should
have about 11 lines. Click
on the apply button
Change the foreground
color to #54352F and the
size of the pen tool to
2. Go around the center
inbetween the other lines
as in screen shot. Convert
to raster layer.

Click
on the center circle lock
the layer transparency.
Air brush a little color
#c7742b and #7b4c2dv. Then
apply eye candy 3 jiggle
setting

That's
all there is too it.
Hope everyone had fun with this.
