Font Painting

You can get the Crazy Zoo font here.

You don't have to put the font in your windows font folder. In fact it is better to make a font folder in your My Documents folder.

I use lots of brushes when I paint. Some of my favorite ones are here at PJ's PSP Stuff.

I am using gradients for this that I got from ChooChoo's Gradients.

Open a transparent canvas. 600X200. Or a size you like to work with. If you don't have a font viewer program open the Crazy Zoo font and minimize it. When you open PSP it will be in the font list. Set your font settings size 100, create as vector, stroke 2, foreground color black and background set to nil. Type in your name or what ever you choose. For this I just typed in name of font. Convert to raster layer. Zoom in close to see one letter at a time. make sure that there are no gaps in the letters. Use paint brush size one to close the gaps. Use the magic wand tool to check the letters. Tolerance and feather set at 0, anti-alias checked. Name this layer Letters.

Add new raster layer flood fill with white. Add another raster layer. Click back on your letters layer. Use the magic wand and click inside first letter. Go to selection/modify/ expand by 2. Click back on the layer below.

My first Letter is a C so I am using Nap-ocean-green gradient for the foreground, and #e0f2ed for the background color. I used the paint brush with the preset PJ-dustline brush. Paint all over the letter. As you can see in the screen shot, the background color makes it speckled or looks like a texture. Lock your layer, and apply cutout using these settings. Horizontal and vertical 3, opacity 100, blur 11, color #244a43. Apply again using -3. I did the same for the mouth and little fish. Don't forget the eyes too.

Add a new raster layer for each letter and color. On some of the animal letters the cutout just doesn't work good. So I used the airbrush with these settings.

There is all kinds of cute fonts out there so just do your own thing with them.
