By using this tutorial you agree to my
terms
Feel free to use your own colors for this.
For this tutorial you will need
Jasc PSP
8 .
You will need alpha-channel canvas
here.
These are the colors
I used. Right click and save to your hard drive.

Choose you duck colors.
I used the 5th color for the foreground and the 6th
for the back ground. Click on each layer and load the
alpha-channel.
1. Load the right wing
bottom alpha-channel, flood fill with the foreground
color. Click on the lock
in the layer pallet. Use air brush with these settings. Size:
30, Hardness: 7, Step: 24, Density: 100, Thickness: 100, Rotation:
0, Opacity: 24. Spray around the edges for some shading with the
background color. Unlock the layer pallet by clicking the lock again.
2. Do the same for
the left wing. Load the alpha-channel again and add
new raster layer. Invert and apply drop shadow using
these settings. Vertical and Horizontal 0, Opacity
68, Blur 9, color #4E3D14. The next part is optional
I liked the tips of the wings to be a bit darker. Erase
the top part of the shadow, we just want it to be on
the feather part of the wing. Use the soften tool to
smooth the edge.
I have circled the
areas to be softened.

3. Load the feet alpha-channel.
I used the first and second colors. Do the same as you
did in the first step. Use the lighten and darken tool
to add some high light to the feet.
4. Load the bottom
alpha-channel. Use the same colors as the wings and
do the same as in step 2. Click on the bottom layer
and use soften tool to smooth edge where it lays against
the wing. Do the same for the top and top wing layers.
5. Load the head alpha-channel.
Do the same as the other layers but don't erase any
of the shadow.
6. Load the bottom
bill alpha-channel. Use the colors you used for the
feet.
7. Load the top bill
layer and do the same as for the feet with the lighten
and darken tool. Use the airbrush with the background
color and make two small dots for the nose.
8. Load the eye shadow
alpha-channel. Don't flood fill with color, we are going
to use the cutout for the color. Apply cutout using
these settings. Vertical and Horizontal 0, Opacity 100,
Blur 24, color #AF915A. Lower the opacity of the layer
to about 80%. You can use the eye I made or make your
own. Put the eye on the shadow turn off all other layers
and merge visible the 2 layers, duplicate and mirror.
Move the eyes into place.
Turn on the bow and
heart layers. Add any drop shadows and things you want.
I left the canvas big so you could merge the layers
except the bow and heart. Just mirror her and
duplicate the bow and heart for her friend.
Your Good Friends Ducks
are done.
Hope everyone had fun with this.

This tutorial is dedicated
to my friend Opal. She keeps a smile on my face. She
kept calling chicks, ducks so I said I was going to
make a duck and call it Opal cause she always quacks
me up. But naming it Good Friends seem to fit
me and Opal. Love and hugs to you always.
