8 . This was written using 9 but it can be done in 8 or 7 with a
few adjustments.
Below
is the smudge settings I
used.

Air
brush settings.

This is a simple vector fruit bowl.
Open canvas 825X600. Choose you base color. I used #FFEBCD for background and foreground set to nil. Click on the preset shape tool . Select the Rectangle, anti-alias and create as vector checked. Start towards the bottom of canvas. 290X525, (this dosen't have to be exact) to about 553X571. Click on the pen tool . Right click on the right bottom node, choose node type/symmetric. Turn node as in screen shot. Do the same for the left bottom node. We want just a small curve on the bottom.

Click on the top nodes and move them in just a little. Add new vector layer Change vector shape to Ellipse. Drag out a ellipse centered above the rectangle.

Pull end nodes up a little.

Right click on right end node choose Asymmetric pull bottom arrow on node down a little. do the same for the left side.

Pull the middle node down as in screen shot. Go back to the end node and pull the top arrow down to make a smooth curve.

That's all there is to a simple basic fruit bowl. Save your image then duplicate image Shift+D. I like to keep a vector of my images so I can change it or fix a boo boo. Convert to raster layer. Now we can paint our fruit bowl.
Click on the lock in the layer pallet to lock the transparency. Set foreground color to D6A860 and background to 8A652A. Brush lighter color as in first screen shot then darker color over it as in second screen shot. Smudge to blend colors.

It was right about here that I decided I didn't like the tan colors and switched to the yellows. There is just the 2 pieces this bowl that it isnt a problem changing colors in the middle of things. I'm still not all that happy with the color but you can get the jest of how to airbrush the shading on it. You can add more of the darker color to the edges and middle. Use smudge brush to blend.

Use the material color to get the darker shade in your colors. I use the dot to find the one I want.

Change brush size to 3 and draw in some cracks dings or just marks. I is an old bowl. lol

For the next color I went to the left side of color chart and used a light gray. For the last color I went to the right side and used the light yellow.

Now we need some fruit for our bowl.
Hope everyone had fun with this.
