By using this tutorial you agree to my terms 

Open your image, (a psp tube or picture you drew) choose a background color that is not in your image.

For the bowl above I used #E4D8C7. Add a new raster layer and flood

fill with your color, make sure that your color is set for the background on the color palette.

Send this layer to the bottom. Your picture should be like this.

 

Go to Colors/Set Palette Transparency.  Use the settings in the screen shot below.

The use the settings below for the next box.

 

That's all there is to it. Now save as GIF. (CompuServe Graphics Interchange)

It doesn't appear to have changed you can still see the back ground color while looking

at it in PSP. When it is put on a back ground in e-mail or on a web page the

color (tan in my picture) doesn't show.

You can use this to make the headers on web pages or what ever you need it for.

The only thing is you cant add a drop shadow to it. That will make your background

color show threw.
