Water Trough
By using this tutorial you agree to my
terms
Feel free to use your own colors for this.
For this tutorial you will need
Jasc PSP
9 . This was written using 9 but it can be done in 8
and 7 with some adjustments.
For those that are
using my alpha channel canvas you can get it HERE For
PSP7 users you wont be able to use the distress brush.
So use the setting for the smudge 1.
The smudge brush I use you can get
SMUDGE BRUSH PRESETS AND
BRUSHES PJ-Distress is one that I use a lot to make a textured like
effect.

For
those
using
the
alpha
channel
canvas:
For
each step load alpha
channel selections,
then flood fill
with certain colors.
To keep from typing
the same thing for
each layer I will
just say the layer
we will be working
on.
Front:
Flood fill with first color on chart. Use 2nd and 3rd
colors on chart and use airbrush 1 settings above. Spray
all over with both colors. Smudge using smudge 1 setting
above.
Add
new layer Use 4th color and spray lightly Smudge to
blend. If you want a lighter wood spray heaver with
the light color.

Use
3rd color again and spray heavy. Start in one corner
and click once with the smudge brush 1, hold down shif
key and move brush down to the end and click once. Move
brush down to middle of selection and repeat. Do the
same at the bottom. This is what I came up with. I wanted
the grain to be some what straight.

Use
the pen tool size2 foreground color black, background
set to nil. Draw a could lines to look like slats. Covert
to raster layer then gaussian blur 1. Merge visible
Legs:
Flood fill with 1st color on chart. Do the same
as above with the colors. Going in a down ward motion.
Top:
Do the same as you did for the other layers. Make the
edges darker. You can go to the water layer and flood
fill it so you can see where the edges are.
Rim:
Do the same for the rim layer. I blended it to a more
smooth edge. I used more of the light color too. Click
back on the first layer and add new layer. Use the dark
brown color to add some shadow. Smudge to blend. Below
is what I have so far.

Trim
2: Flood fill with black.
Water:
Flood fill with color 6. Spray with color 7, use
colors 8 and 9 for high light. Smudge to blend.

Pump:
Flood fill with black. Keep selected and add new layer.
Use airbrush 2 settings. Use color #404040 spray
as in screen shot smudge to blend. Add new layer, change
color to white Paint lines as in screen shot.
Smudge to blend.

Add
all your final touches and adjustments. That's
all there is to it.
Hope everyone had fun with this.
