By using this tutorial you agree to my terms Feel free to use your own colors for this. For this tutorial you will need Jasc PSP 8 . This was written using 8 but it can be done in 7 with a few adjustments. Below is the smudge settings I used.
Below is the airbrush I use.
You will need my alpha channel canvas and supplies here. On the canvas I have placed the colors I used. 1. Load alpha channel spout, flood fill with first color. Select color 2 for the foreground and color 3 as background. Add new layer and airbrush as in screen shot. Smudge towards the base of the can change the rotation to 50. Change colors to the 6th and 7th and spray the tip. Airbrush as in screen shot.

Load the bands alpha channel flood fill with color 1.
Use air brush and spray color 2, use a darker
shade of 2 and spray edges. 3. Load base alpha channel and flood fill with color 1. Add new layer and use colors 2 and 3 airbrush as in screen shot. Use motion blur angle 180, strength 40. Then smudge to touch up. Add new layer use color 3 and 4 for high lights.
On this part I flood filled each top layer with color 1 so I could see better where to put the shading. 4. Load top 1 alpha channel. Add new layer use colors 2 and 8. Air brush as in screen shot then smudge. Darker part around edges. Add new layer and use color 4 for high light.
You can click back on the layer below and add some color 8 and smudge. 5. Load top 2 alpha channel use colors 2 and 8 as in screen shot, add new layer and use colors 3 and 4 for high lights.
This
is what we have so far. 6.
Click on top 3 layer and lock layer pallet, flood fill
with color 8. Add new layer and spray some color 2 and
3 in the middle as in screen shot. 7.
Load handle plate alpha channel flood fill with color
1. Add new layer, spray around edges with color 8, then
inner area with color 3 and center with color 2, as
in screen shot. 8.
Load handle 1 alpha channel flood fill with color 1.
Add new layer use colors 3 and 8. spray as in screen
shot. 9. Load handle 2 alpha channel flood fill with color 1. Add new layer, use color 2 and 8 spray as in screen shot. Smudge to blend colors. Use colors 3 and 4 to add high lights to top and middle areas.

Smudge to blend colors. Add new layer use color 8 size
8 and make too dots (to look like rivets) then change
size to 6 and use color 5. 
smudge to blend colors. Deselect Click back on
layer under handel and add new layer. Use color 8 to
add some shadow under handle that is on plate.
