Wicker Basket

By using this tutorial you agree to my terms

For this tutorial you will need Jasc PSP 8 .

You will need the canvas and supplies here.

1. Open the wicker tiles. Select the pattern background with the blue tile angle 0, scale 100. Select the pattern foreground with the tan tile, same settings. Flood with the base layer with the tan tile (or blue if you choose to have a blue basket)

We will be skipping around a bit to different layers. So we wont always go in order they are in pallet.

2. Load the vertical 1 alpha-channel and flood fill with tan tile change angle to 90. Click on the lock in the layer pallet. Apply cut out with these settings, vertical and horizontal 0, opacity 100, blur 25, color #604024. Go ahead and do the vertical 2 layer now.

3. Load horizontal 1 flood fill with tan and change angle to 0. Lock layer pallet, apply cut out. Use your smudge tool to bring in the darker edges as in screen shot.

When you get them all done load alpha-channel again and add new raster layer. We are going to add some highlights  to the center of the wicker then smudge to the edges. Use air brush with color # FBF8F3. If you are a heavy sprayer you can always lower the opacity some. If you spray too light you can always add more.

Deselect  Don't worry about getting to much on the top and bottom edges. When you get all the highlights done on this you use the eraser set size about 18 hardness to 13 and opacity to 48.   Click on top and bottom edges.   Turn off other layers and merge visible the 2 layers.

Now that wasn't all that bad now was it?  Do the same to horizontal 4 layer.

4. Load horizontal 5 and flood fill with tan tile. Apply cut out changing vertical to 10, then apply again changing vertical back to 0. Smudge sides toward center. Do the same as before for the highlight.

5. Now we are going to work on the blue layers.  Load horizontal 2 alpha-channel. Apply cut out with these settings, vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 100, blur 25, color #05091F. Apply again changing vertical and horizontal to -2. Smudge  outside edges in and then bring  top and bottom in just a little. Do highlight layer as before using #CDD4E9.

Do the same for horizontal 3 layer.

6. Do the same as above for the corner left alpha-channel and all the T layers. (T is for the triangle looking selections for the top, I got lazy and didn't want to type triangle for all 7 of them. lol ) Do the same for the corner right. Almost done now.

7. Load handle layer and flood with tan tile change the angle to 67. Apply cut out vertical -4, horizontal 1, opacity 100, blur 10. Repeat cut out changing vertical to 10 and horizontal to -2. Smudge and add highlight as before. Click on preset shape and make a small circle and apply inner bevel bead changing width to 5.  Duplicate and mirror it.

8. Last thing now is to merge some layers and  add a drop shadow. Turn off all the T layers and horizontal 5 layers and handle. The base layer is optional so you can delete it now. Merge visible. Name this basket bottom. (optional on the naming) Turn on all the T layers and merge them visible. You should have 2 handle layers. The T layers and horizontal 5 layer. Click on the horizontal 5 layer and apply drop shadow vertical 2, horizontal 0, opacity 100, blur 14, color #401D04 shadow on new layer checked. Apply the same drop shadow to the T layer, click on the shadow layer and erase the top areas and sides. Do the same for the handles. I erase all areas that aren't on the basket. Merge all layers except the handles so you can add flower or fruit to your basket.

Hope everyone had fun with this.
